My name is Jamie. I live with my mother and five animals in a small trailer just outside of Rosman. On April 21st, 2026, without prior notice, our power was shut off. Originally our power was paid for by the county, but approximately six months ago, they had stopped. The only warning we received was on the morning of the 21st stating our power would be shut off. We owe the Duke Energy $1,099.27. They informed us if this is not paid by the 1st of May, this will go up to approximately $1300-1400+. My mother and I are currently jobless and can barely scrape together nickels and dimes for food. We are both physically disabled and struggle with mental illness.
