Help my friend’s Mom with Stroke Recovery Costs
Donation protected
On August 15th, Duby suffered a severe ischemic stroke on the right side of her brain. After being rushed to the hospital, the doctors performed a mechanical thrombectomy and were able to retrieve most of the blood clot but she has been left with severe deficits. She is now blind in her left eye, paralyzed on her left side, and unable to swallow foods or liquids. She is still currently in the hospital due to multiple infections, feeding tube complications and difficulty maintaining her vitals.
Jessica recently received a letter from her mother’s insurance claiming that her extended stay in the hospital was not medically necessary, and that any additional inpatient treatment past 8/29 will not be covered. This is a huge problem because not only is she still presently in the hospital, but she has already been told that her mother will need extensive time in an acute inpatient rehabilitation center when she’s discharged.
Duby is a retired Family Services Coordinator for Headstart programs which serve low income families and provide services for education, housing, and other additional resources. Duby went above and beyond to help ensure that her families were able to apply for health insurance, ESL classes, GED courses, certification training and other assistance to help enrich their lives. In her time with the Not for Profit, she started the Cassidy‘s Closet which served as an access point for families to receive free clothing and homegood donations. Please help support someone who did so much for her families and community.
