Help my mom who had another stroke
Donation protected
Hi, my name is William and my mom just had a second stroke in a 5 month timeframe. She is only 41 years old. Her stroke in Oct was not caught early enough so she suffers from weakness on her right side and memory issues. She has not been able to drive since then and has been getting around with a cane. She has major medical issues and not driving has been a really big challenge.
She had another stroke on Thursday that was caught fast enough to administer meds that reverted some of the side effects but not all of them. She was in ICU for a bit but faught hard to go home early on Sat. Hospitals are hard for her anxiety. Going home ended up being the wrong move and she ended up being taken back to the hospital by an ambulance on Tuesday morning thinking another stroke was happening. She has been in the hospital on the ICU step down unit since. She has extensive left side weakness. They do not let her out of the bed. She has lost the ability to use the restroom. And they have deemed it unsafe for her to return home right now. This stroke effected her left side which makes things worse because now she is weak on both sides.
We are waiting on insurance to approve for her to go to rehab which should happen in the next couple of days.
Greatfuly the CVMA has stepped up and they are building a ramp in the mudroom to make it handicap accessible for her to get into the main part of the house. They also assisted in tearing down a wall in the master bathroom as the walker does not fit into any of the bathrooms. We are now left with putting this bathroom back together and finishing it which includes new flooring to fill the gaps from where the wall was.
We have all taken many days off of work to be with her at the hospital as we are uncomfortable leaving her alone right now. Dad is almost out of time and does not qualify for FMLA because his office is too small.
Feeding those that are staying at the hospital is adding up quickly and now the list of things Mom needs for the rehab is adding up as well.
On top of that, since it is the beginning of the year deductibles and copays and caps have not been met with insurance so bills are piling up and the money is not there to pay them.
Everything and anything would be greatly appreciated.
We have started the goal at $5000 and will adjust it as bills come in. Please spread the word and thank you for the love and support.
