My name is Grace, and I'm fundraising for my mom, Ruby, who suffered a brain hemorrhage in December 2021. My family and I are fortunate and grateful that mom survived against odds that said otherwise, but she still needs cranial surgery and months of physical rehabilitation to recover.

As you see in the cover photo, my mom is a happy-natured, sweet, caring person who loves her daughters and grandchildren. But right now she is severely disabled due to the brain hemorrhage she suffered. She cannot move the right side of her body and has to rely on nurses and caretakers for all basic activities, including eating and using the bathroom. She is unable to walk or sit up and needs constant assistance. Mom is also unable to produce speech due to her brain injury. She can understand some of what we say to her, but the injury has significantly affected her memory, recognition, and speech. For the moment, mom is going through physical and speech therapy, but progress will be minimal until she can have a necessary, life-saving cranial surgery.

This surgery will allow doctors to add a piece of cranium bone initially taken out to prevent further brain compression and damage. After this surgery is complete, it will be possible to treat hydrocephalus, a condition my mom is currently experiencing where fluid accumulates in the brain. When treated, patients have a 90% recovery rate . However, if not treated, patients with hydrocephalus have a low chance of survival. My family and I are doing everything we can to raise funds that will allow my mom to survive and recover from her brain injury.
