Please help so United Healthcare won’t send my Mom home to die! My name is Jack Maddock, and anyone that really knows me understands that I would never ask anyone for help with anything. But this is not for me. It is for my Mom (Marcie Maddock) and Dad (J.B. Maddock). A few months back, my Mom went into the hospital, walking and talking but having a minor stroke. The medicine that they gave her for the stroke made her have a brain bleed and put her into a coma and on life support within hours. After 2 months in the hospital she was moved to a physical rehab facility that can handle the feeding tube that the hospital had put into her stomach to feed her. She is now unable to walk or talk and has lost most of the use to her right side. But she is working on getting it back and making progress. Now after a month at the facility, United Healthcare has already tryed to kick her out numerous times but my Dad has appealed the claims. They say she is not getting better fast enough. Although the facility says she is doing great. My Dads appeal was denied last week and now he has to pay $450 PER DAY to keep her there. He’s is looking for other options but finding someplace that has the capability to handle the feeding tube that keeps her alive is the hard part, with no help from insurance. He says he has enough saved up to keep her there for a week or 10 days until he has spent all of his money. My dad is a Vietnam Veteran that paved roads for King County roads his whole life. He has worked hard and does ok for himself. But no one is capable of paying $450 per Day and having it be sustainable. Long story short, if United Healthcare kicks my mom out she will die with no way of maintaining her feeding tube.
