My mother is the strongest person I know. She’s a survivor of domestic abuse, and despite suffering from PTSD, epilepsy, hypoglycemia, and seizures, she raised my siblings and me to be good people. She’s always put her children first, even when she had nothing left to give. After leaving behind painful memories, she moved out to the country to find peace, but life hasn’t gotten any easier. She lives alone in a small farmhouse built in 1905, barely getting by on disability, and is often too sick to keep up with the demands of her home. When she does feel well enough to try, the amount of work is overwhelming and discouraging. My mother’s kindness and selflessness mean she’s always helping others, even when she needs help herself. I do what I can to support her, but I don’t have the means to help with the repairs her house desperately needs. Her bathroom floor is caving in, the kitchen and hallway floors are falling apart, and the windows and frames are in terrible shape. The house needs to be painted and power washed, and there’s significant damage to the beams and walls in one corner. She could only afford a house in poor condition, and now I worry every day about it becoming unlivable. The funds from this fundraiser will go directly to repairing her home—painting, redoing the bathroom, fixing the kitchen floor, repairing windows and frames, and addressing the structural damage. These repairs will make her home safer and more comfortable, reduce her stress, and help her feel less isolated and embarrassed. I worry every day about her safety, and I want her to have a home where she can feel secure and at peace. Please consider helping my mother. Any support you can give will make a real difference in her life and bring her the comfort and dignity she deserves. Thank you for reading and for caring about someone who has always cared for others.
