Help my mom recover from life saving surgery and get home
Donation protected
Last Wednesday (Nov 13th) my mom Sheri Trejo (some of you know her as Ms. Trejo, some of you know her as Napalm) suffered a massive pulmonary embolism while visiting and helping her dad on his property in Oregon. She needed an emergency transfer to OHSU in Portland where she needed immediate open heart surgery to remove 50 (yes, 50) blood clots from her lungs and one blood clot that spanned from one side of her heart through a hole and into the other (ventricular septal defect). The clot in her heart broke off and miraculously traveled to her leg where she needed another immediate surgery on the spot after her open heart surgery. If the clot would have gone to her brain instead, the result would have been the worse case scenario.
Both surgeries went well and after a week in the ICU, we now are so blessed to be in the normal cardiovascular unit, on the road to recovery. She will be in the hospital until at least the end of the week and we will then have to move to an air bnb to remain in Portland until at least the first week of December while her chest plate and bones heal and she is strong enough to travel back to San Diego safely. I can’t believe how strong she has been through this and her attitude facing all of it has been so inspiring.
Starting something like this goes against our natural instinct and my mom will probably be mad at me initially for making this but obviously this situation is a huge unexpected financial roadblock and I want her to only worry about her recovery. Her whole life she has helped so many people and if anybody deserves a little help in a time of need it’s her. If you have the means and want to help us out the money will help relieve my mom of the logistical stress of all this and get her into a place to stay for as long as she needs to get strong and healthy enough to travel safely back to San Diego and help us both offset the costs of putting our lives on hold while I’m the only family she has who can be her caretaker while she needs it.
Whether you can help or not she loves y’all and is so excited to get back to herself and see ya again!
