On Monday, March 18th, 2024, my family's life was changed. My mother's car was hit by a speeding 2011-2012 Honda Accord driven by someone who ran a stop sign and then left the scene. While the Montgomery Co. Sheriff's Department has stated their commitment to finding the driver, my mom's recovery has started. Her injuries include two broken legs, a shattered ankle, and eight broken ribs. She is currently unable to walk and has had to be moved to a rehab center for constant care.

My mother worked all of her life and would probably be working still but, the physical toll of a lifetime of retail finally forced her to retire a few years back. She was set to enjoy her modest retirement, spending time with her family, and caring for her life partner, who is disabled. Now, her future looks uncertain.
