Help My Mom Recover from a Devastating accident

On May 13, my mother, Maria Guadalupe, was involved in a serious car accident with an 18-wheeler and another vehicle. She spent a full day in the hospital and was diagnosed with four broken ribs. Just a few days later, on the night of May 17, while still recovering and experiencing dizziness from her pain medication, she suffered a terrible fall. This resulted in a brain bleed, multiple skull fractures, and facial fractures.

Maria is 60 years old and has spent her entire life working hard to provide for her family. As a single mother, she raised her four children with love, strength, and endless sacrifice. She’s also played a major role in raising most of her grandchildren — always the one we turn to, no matter the situation.

On top of these recent injuries, Maria has also been living with chronic arthritis for many years — a condition that already made daily life difficult, even before the accident.

She spent two days in the ICU and three more in the geriatric trauma unit. Her recovery will be long and challenging, both physically and emotionally. But through it all, Maria’s unwavering faith has been her anchor. As a devout Catholic, she believes she is still here for a reason — and she’s determined to heal and continue being a source of love and strength for our family.

Our family is doing everything we can, but we’re now facing overwhelming medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and the need for ongoing care.

El pasado 13 de mayo, mi mamá, María Guadalupe, sufrió un grave accidente automovilístico con un tráiler y otro vehículo. Pasó un día entero en el hospital y le diagnosticaron cuatro costillas rotas. Apenas unos días después, en la noche del 17 de mayo, mientras aún se recuperaba y experimentaba mareos debido a su medicamento para el dolor, sufrió una fuerte caída. Esto le causó una hemorragia cerebral, múltiples fracturas en el cráneo y fracturas faciales.

María tiene 60 años y ha dedicado toda su vida a trabajar duro para sacar adelante a su familia. Como madre soltera, crió con mucho amor y sacrificio a sus cuatro hijos. También ha sido una figura fundamental en la crianza de la mayoría de sus nietos — siempre ha estado ahí para todos, sin importar la situación.

Además de estas lesiones recientes, María ha vivido por años con artritis crónica — una condición que ya dificultaba su vida diaria, incluso antes del accidente.

Estuvo dos días en terapia intensiva y tres días más en la unidad de trauma geriátrico. Su recuperación será larga y difícil, tanto física como emocionalmente. Pero, a pesar de todo, su fe inquebrantable ha sido su mayor fortaleza. Como católica devota, está convencida de que sigue aquí por una razón, y está decidida a salir adelante para seguir siendo ese pilar de amor y fuerza en nuestra familia.
