On July 8th, my mother, Lynnette Duguay, and my two younger siblings, Ada
(8) and Michael (6), lost everything in a house fire. Their home is now uninhabitable.
Smoke, fire, water, and now mold have made it a total loss. What wasn’t destroyed was
damaged beyond recovery. And to make matters worse, her insurance policy is bare
bones — covering only a fraction of what’s needed to survive, let alone rebuild.
My mom is a single mother, a devoted homeschooler, and an herbalist who works from
home. Her house was more than just a home but an office and classroom. Overnight, she lost not just a roof over her head, but her ability to earn income and to teach her children.
She is not the kind of person to ask for help. She’s always been the giver — the mom who goes above and beyond when you need her most. During my first year at college when I got sick she drove hours to bring some good food and medicine.
But now, she’s the one in need.
What this fund will help replace:
● Immediate survival needs: Beds, blankets, pillows, toiletries, food, clothes, gas
● Homeschool supplies for Ada and Michael
● Work tools, books and herbal supplies she needs to rebuild and continue
working
● Extra funds for what is not covered by her insurance
This fire didn’t just take her house. It shook the foundation of her family’s life.
Please consider donating whatever you can. Even a small gift goes a long way to help, even just sending prayers would mean the world, thank you so much.
With love and deep gratitude,
