My mom has always been the heart of our family—a hard worker, a loving parent, and someone who never gives up, no matter what life throws her way. She’s faced more than her share of challenges, living with ataxia, neuropathy, and several other autoimmune and neurological conditions. Despite all of this, she remains a kind and generous person, always putting others before herself. She’s the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need.

Recently, my mom suffered a serious ankle break. Because of errors on her insurance company’s end, her treatment was delayed for weeks. This delay caused her condition to worsen, and what could have been a straightforward procedure turned into an emergency surgery. Now, she’s facing significant medical expenses that we simply can’t afford. She doesn’t qualify for disability, so my 65-year-old father is our family’s sole provider. The cost of her surgery and ongoing care is overwhelming, and we’re terrified that these bills could cost us the home we’ve lived in for over 30 years.
