I’m Tim Lacatena, and I’m raising funds on behalf of my mom, Mary, who lives in Fairbanks, Alaska.
In late November, she fell down a steep set of stairs and broke both of her ankles. One ankle required surgery for multiple fractures, which she underwent in early December. I flew in to be with her for the surgery week, but I live and work in Los Angeles and can’t stay long-term.
Her insurance will thankfully cover the surgery and physical therapy, but it does not cover the daily in-home care she now needs for the next couple of months during her recovery, in the coldest months of winter in Alaska. Since she can’t walk or stand on either foot, she has had to hire caregiving help for a few hours a day—for cooking, basic mobility, caring for her dog and cat, and managing daily tasks.
The cost of this care has added up quickly and will continue to do so over the coming months. My goal is to raise $10,000 to help cover these expenses until she is able to recover and regain mobility.
My mom is one of the most generous and selfless people I know—someone who has repeatedly gone to great lengths to rescue animals in need and help friends in any way she can.
Any contribution, or even sharing this page, would mean so much.
Thank you for supporting my mom during this difficult time.
With gratitude,
Tim
