Fundraiser for My Mom’s Recovery

It feels incredibly vulnerable to ask for help, but my mom is in a serious medical and financial crisis, and I’m doing everything I can to support her. Right now, we can’t do this alone.

Six weeks ago, my mom, Kyle Masa, went to the hospital with severe chest pain. After tests, she was sent home — but what we now know is that she spent the following three weeks having multiple small heart attacks without anyone realizing.

When she finally returned to the hospital, doctors discovered several dangerous blockages. She ended up needing five emergency stents placed in her heart — a major, life-saving procedure that’s often handled with open-heart surgery.

Since then, her recovery has been extremely difficult. She faced severe complications and spent over three weeks in the hospital, dealing with chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, major GI issues, and weakness that makes even basic tasks hard. Even now at home, she still struggles to walk across the room without getting out of breath, and the pain has not fully improved.

Before all of this, my mom was already in a fragile financial situation. Most of her food came from food banks, and even then, paying rent was a constant struggle. Now, with her health so unstable, she’s unable to do the things she used to do to survive day to day. When she finally got home from the hospital, her car’s check-engine light came on and required major repairs — another unexpected blow.

I am her only support system and her primary caretaker. I want her to have what every person deserves, especially during a medical crisis: healthy food, stability, and the space to simply focus on healing without fear.

As vulnerable as it feels to ask, I’m reaching out for help so my mom can get through this critical recovery period with dignity and safety.

What the funds will support:

Healthy, nourishing food essential for heart recovery

1–2 months of rent so she can stabilize and rest

Basic needs, bills, and medication assistance

Support with necessary car repairs so she can get to medical appointments
