Please Help My Mom Recover After Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Hi there,
Like so many others across western North Carolina and beyond, my mom, Linda, has unexpectedly lost her home in Black Mountain, North Carolina, due to the catastrophic damage caused by Tropical Storm/Hurricane Helene. I am so, so grateful that she is alive and unharmed, but heartbroken for all of WNC.
As of updating this Tuesday, there is no power, no water, no gas. Black Mountain is urging residents with gas and a place to go, to leave. My mom does not have enough gas to leave. But, she has been able to find food and drinking water, through the generosity of churches and restaurants who are able to band together to provide help to the community. She has found shelter through the generosity of a neighbor, who has given her a place to stay through the week. She has been told that it will be weeks before power and water are restored in Black Mountain.
I created this GoFundMe in hopes of alleviating the stress of what comes next. The funds will cover the first and last month's rent for a new place, clothes, furniture, food, and whatever she might need for a new beginning.
To everyone who has contributed, shared, sent food/water/shelter/FEMA resources, and so much more for my mom, I can’t put into words how much it means. People I know, people I’ve never met, my heart is feeling overwhelmed with the amount of support my mom has received over the past 48 hours.
Please continue to keep all of WNC in your thoughts and prayers. There are still people unaccounted for, trapped, and in even worse situations.
