Help My Mom Rebuild - She Was Awarded Support but Never Received It
She was awarded spousal support—but has not received it.
Now in her 60s, she is living with her son's family in their 1 bedroom apartment.
We are raising funds to secure legal representation and enforce the support already granted.
My mom is someone who has always put her family first. For over 20 years, she dedicated her life to raising her 4 children and supporting her husband’s business. She was a full-time mother, while also playing a key role behind the scenes—helping build and shape the business, working with clients, coordinating trips, and supporting the day-to-day operations that kept everything running.
Like many long marriages, things were not always easy. But she remained committed to her family and gave her time, energy, and love to the people around her.
Several years ago, she made the difficult decision to leave the marriage.
What followed was a long and complicated divorce process that left her in a far more difficult position than anyone expected. The court ordered that she be paid spousal support, but those payments have not been made. Without the financial resources to retain an attorney and enforce the order, she has been unable to access the support she was legally awarded—leaving her to navigate this situation on her own without the stability that support was intended to provide.
Over time, she:
- Lost her home
- Used her remaining savings to support her daughter’s rent and college tuition
- Fell into debt trying to stay afloat
- Lost reliable transportation
- Has been relying on temporary living arrangements just to get by
Recently, things became even more unstable when her car was impounded, leaving her without transportation at a time when she is already struggling to find stable footing.
My mom is now a grandmother in her 60s, facing a situation no one should have to navigate alone—without stable housing, without reliable transportation, and without the legal support she needs to move forward. As her children, we are doing everything we can to support her, but she is still struggling to find a stable place to live and regain her footing.
Why We’re Asking for Help
We are working together as a family to help her stabilize and rebuild. The goal is not just short-term relief, but to give her a real path forward.
Our first priority is securing legal representation. Without an attorney, she has no realistic way to enforce the support she was awarded. At the same time, we are working to ensure she has the basic stability needed to navigate this process.
Funds raised will go toward:
- Legal representation: Securing an attorney to enforce the support she was awarded but never received, and to help her navigate her current legal and financial situation
- Basic living expenses: Temporary housing, food, and essential needs while she works to regain stability
- Transportation and immediate needs: Addressing urgent logistical challenges so she can function day-to-day
How Funds Will Be Handled
To ensure everything is used responsibly and effectively, funds will be managed by her children and applied directly toward legal fees, housing, and essential expenses, with priority given to securing legal representation.
Why This Matters
My mom spent decades building a life centered around her family. Right now, she is in a position where she needs a real chance to stabilize, rebuild, and regain her independence after being left without the support she was legally awarded.
We are doing everything we can to help her, and any support—whether through a donation or simply sharing this—makes a meaningful difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for your support—it truly means more than we can express.
