Help My Mom Rebuild After Her Apartment Fire

My name is Dominique, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my mother, who is facing a devastating loss.

Just over a year ago, in February, we lost my father. His birthday would have been this month, and as we continue to grieve, our family has been hit with yet another heartbreaking blow — my mom’s apartment was destroyed in a fire. She lost everything.

She wasn’t home when the fire started. She came back to find her front door kicked in, the windows shattered, the ceiling collapsed, and fire crews working to contain the damage. Walking up to that scene — knowing everything she owned, every memory and comfort she had left — was gone… it's hard to put into words what that moment was like for her.

Though we are incredibly grateful she is safe, she is now facing the unimaginable task of starting over completely from scratch — while still carrying the weight of grief for the man she loved and shared her life with.

She needs help rebuilding: clothing, toiletries, temporary shelter, basic necessities, and eventually replacing the furniture and personal items that made her house a home. Insurance will only go so far, and the needs are immediate.
