On November 26, 2025, my mom, Laura Carter, had a sudden turn in her life she never could have expected. A fire broke out at her home in the afternoon, and although firefighters put it out, the flames reignited later that night, followed by a gas explosion. After this second fire, only the cinderblock walls remained. My mom was safely at work and with friends, but she lost everything she owned. The home is now rubble.
My mom has always been a wonderfully caring person, helping others and living modestly, and now she faces the challenge of starting over. She needs help with temporary housing, replacing necessities, cleaning up the fire damage, and rebuilding. With no insurance to fall back on, every bit of support will make a difference.
We are reaching out to her community in Grand Junction and my community in Boston for help. My mom’s hope is to get back on her feet and move back to her 24 Road property, where I spent my early years. Any support—big or small—would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your kindness after this loss, which sadly came on the eve of Thanksgiving.
Thank you,
Pearl and Laura
