Hi everyone,

My name is Dawson, and I am starting this fundraiser for my mom, Marlee, during one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced.

On Christmas Eve, my mom’s home caught fire due to an electrical issue. She did not cause the fire, and we even have video footage confirming this. After the fire, she was told to leave the property and was not allowed back into her unit to retrieve her belongings. This left her displaced and without access to her home or possessions for weeks.

When she was finally allowed back inside in mid-January, the devastation was overwhelming. Nearly everything she owned had been destroyed, and the unit was left completely uninhabitable—especially unsafe given her serious medical conditions.

She was then informed that she would need to relocate with very little notice. This sudden timeline has placed our family in an urgent situation, trying to secure safe housing while covering the major costs that come with moving after such a traumatic event.

Moving in the winter makes everything even more challenging, particularly without reliable transportation. Attending viewings, arranging movers, transporting what little remains, and trying to settle into a new place in cold weather has been exhausting and frightening.

On top of everything, my mom has serious health concerns. She suffers from blood clots in her leg, and her scoliosis is so severe that doctors have warned she could become paralyzed at any time. Because of this, I will be moving in with her to help support and care for her. I’m only 24, and doing my best to navigate all of this while keeping her safe.

We are currently searching for a 3–4 bedroom home so our family can stay together. We are also in need of furniture and essential household items, as sudden displacement and fire leave very little behind.

We are asking for help with:

First month’s rent and security deposit

Moving and storage costs

Utility hookups

Replacing essential furniture and belongings

Temporary housing if needed

Transportation related to relocating

Every donation will go directly toward helping my mom find stability again and remain safe while we work to rebuild after this devastating experience.
