Hi, I’m Karina, or Jigs as my screen name for my social medias. In late January/early February my family was hit with the news that my mother had a brain tumor. Obviously this devastated the family, especially as my mother is a very healthy woman, she’s a personal trainer and Zumba instructor. 

Luckily she was able to schedule a surgery and  she got it recently. However, it hasn’t even been a week yet and her job just indirectly fired her. They removed her from her position and took away her benefits, her INSURANCE to help pay for the surgery she JUST had. She already told her bosses and coworkers ahead of time about what was going on and she was told it was fine. But yesterday (March 17th) she was told they “couldn’t hold her position for her” because she was going to be out of work for 6 weeks. 

We currently don’t even know the full extent of the bill yet. We don’t know if 45k would even be enough to cover it all, but my parents are already struggling with having been moving, the lack of work for my dad because of the pandemic, and my mom having less hours at work already and there’s a possibility my mother has to get chemo to remove the rest of the tumor that didn’t get removed during her surgery.
