Support rebuilding after loss

My mom is the strongest person I know. She’s always been the one to help others — even raising money for a friend with cancer — but now she’s the one who needs help. Since losing her business in the Eaton fire, it’s been one setback after another, and now she’s facing the very real possibility of losing everything. Even so, she’s managed to keep those around her laughing and a smile on her face, even with life looking and feeling impossible.

Hi, my name is Aidan, and I’m raising money for my mom, Bree Walrath. Everything changed after the Eaton fire. My mom lost her office, her tools, equipment, supplies, and her main source of income. She also lost a substantial amount of materials and merchandise from her jewelry-making side business — including the last pieces created by her late mother. She received no relief or assistance and was told her only option was to file a lawsuit. Even while facing her own losses, my mom showed up for others. She gathered clothes, toiletries, and water for neighbors who lost everything, and even brought chapstick and eyedrops for the firefighters. That’s who she is — always giving, even when she has nothing left. She’s been working hard to rebuild ever since, but the settlement she’s owed is still years away, and the ripple effects have made life a constant uphill battle. This year brought another turning point. I’ll be starting at Long Beach State next semester and found an apartment earlier than expected. Since we currently share a car, I’ll be taking it with me when I move in a week. That means while I’ll be okay, my mom will be left without transportation — on top of needing to move out of the apartment we’ve shared. Adding to this, my mom lost her medical insurance right when she was finally diagnosed with ADHD. While the diagnosis explained so many struggles, managing it properly has been difficult without coverage or steady resources. Here’s the situation: • She needs to cover back rent plus the increase and late fees (our rent went up again in July, and they charge a 10% late fee) before leaving the apartment. • She will soon be without a car, which makes rebuilding even harder. • She needs to secure storage so she doesn’t lose her belongings. • She also needs help with essentials like food, phone, and basic bills to stay afloat. • And she’s navigating her new ADHD diagnosis without insurance or affordable care. Your support will give my mom the chance to stabilize, regroup, and rebuild her life with dignity instead of losing everything all at once. Even a small donation makes a huge difference. If you can’t give, simply sharing this page will help us reach the people who can. Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting. With gratitude, Aidan
