Hello. My name is Kate, and a few weeks ago my mom, Mindy, was diagnosed with an aggressive, Stage 4 breast cancer which has spread to her bones and liver.
With treatment, the cancer may go dormant, so she has decided to start Chemotherapy.
Her oncologist told her about something called a Cold cap.
A cold cap (or scalp cooling cap) is a tight, helmet-like device worn during chemotherapy. It constricts blood vessels and reduces follicle metabolism, limiting the amount of chemotherapy medicine that reaches the hair follicles. This helps significantly reduce or prevent chemotherapy-induced hair loss.
Unfortunately, my parents do not have coverage for this as it is deemed "cosmetic." Just to rent one it is approximately 500 per month.
We are looking to raise money for her to be able afford this so she can keep her hair and some normalcy.
My mom has always put others before herself and would give the shirt on her back to anyone in need.
If anyone can help even 5 dollars we would be so appreciative.
Thankyou and please keep Mindy in your thoughts and prayers.
