My mom, Jennifer, has always been the kind of person who shows up for others. She's the one who checks in when you're sick, who lends a hand, an ear, or a heart when you are struggling, and who gives more of herself than she probably should. Her efforts have made such a difference for family, friends, and even strangers. Now she is the one who needs our help and support.
What Happened
Recently, my mom faced a serious medical emergency. She was hospitalized with bleeding in her liver from hypertension and stress consistent with injuries seen in severe car accidents. She was hospitalized for one week and underwent many costly procedures. Her recovery unfortunately will be long and painful. We are deeply grateful that she is home and healing, but the costs left behind are overwhelming.
Why We Are Asking For Help
Even with insurance, her medical bills are expected to reach $10k or more. On top of that, she hasn't been able to work while she recovers and being self-employed she is unable to get short term disability, leaving her without income during a critical time. Every week that she is unable to work means a complete loss of income. She has already lost about $5,000 in wages and she may need more time to recovery before she has the capacity to return to work.
We have set a goal of $15k, which will cover:
$10,000 in medical bills (hospital stay, procedures, medications, follow up appointments)
$5,000 to replace lost wages while she takes time to heal.
Every dollar donated goes directly toward easing this burden so my mom can focus on getting well - not drowning in bills. Which stress could further complicate her medical condition.
