My name is Carlos, and I’m raising funds for my mom, who has always been the heart and strength of our family. Growing up in Venezuela, my sister and I were raised by her alone. She worked tirelessly to give us the best childhood possible—making sure we had three meals a day, opportunities for extracurricular activities, and a loving home. I moved to the United States seven years ago, right after high school, to work and build a better future. Being away from my mom has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, especially knowing how much she sacrificed for us.
Several years ago, my mom received polymer injections in her gluteal area. Over time, these substances migrated into her muscles and a lymph node, leading to major health complications. She’s already undergone serious surgery for her lower back and kidney area, and now she’s battling an active infection and inflammation of her urinary tract. Her condition requires constant medical evaluation, imaging, lab tests, medication, and possibly more surgery to remove or manage the migrated material. The doctor who did this to her misled her, promising everything was natural, but it turned out to be a foreign substance. In Venezuela, medical care must be paid fully out of pocket and in advance, making it nearly impossible for us to cover the costs on our own.
My mom is the strongest person I know. Even while facing her own health struggles, she takes care of my grandparents and stays positive, always grateful for what she has. She’s the kind of person who would give her last meal to someone in need, and she’s always been there for our family and others in our community. It breaks my heart that I can’t do more for her right now. I want nothing more than to see her healthy and at peace, able to live the life she deserves. If you can help in any way—by donating or sharing this fundraiser—you’ll be giving my mom a chance to heal and find the peace she’s always given to others. Thank you for your kindness and support.
