My mom is one of the strongest people I know. She’s always been the one to take care of everyone else—our family, friends, and even my grandmother, who she is still caring for now. But this past year has brought challenges that no one should have to face alone.

My mom is battling myelofibrosis, a rare and serious bone marrow disorder. After her first stem cell transplant, we hoped life would start returning to normal. Unfortunately, her body needed a second transplant, and as many of you can imagine, the road to recovery has been even harder this time.

She’s fighting every day, but this second recovery is taking longer than expected. That means more hospital stays, more medication, and more bills piling up. On top of the physical challenges, the financial burden has become overwhelming. Both my mom and dad are unable to work right now, relying only on limited government assistance and retirement funds to get by—all while continuing to care for my grandmother.

Despite everything, my mom remains tough and hopeful. She doesn’t complain, even when she’s in pain. But I can see the weight of the financial stress on her shoulders, and I want to take that away so she can focus on what truly matters: getting better.
