Hi friends, family, and community,

This is really hard for me to write, and harder for my mom to let me put this out there, but my mom needs help right now. She’s been dealing with heart disease for years, and it’s gotten to the point where she now needs open-heart surgery ASAP. Her surgery is scheduled for May 13. It is a relief that there’s finally a plan, but everything around it is overwhelming.

Her quality of life has completely changed, and drastically. She used to love being in the ocean (even just paddling around) and taking beach walks at Swami’s, and now even light housework leaves her feeling like something is seriously wrong or like another heart episode is coming on. It’s been really hard to watch someone so active and full of life slow down like this.

She’s also the person who has always done everything for everyone else. If you’ve known my mom over the years at all, you would know her heart is full of love. She’s the reason holidays happen, the one who still thinks I’m a baby at 40 years old, the one who makes sure everyone else feels taken care of. And now she’s the one who needs support. Her disability is ending, and she won’t be able to work while she recovers. She’s facing rent, medical costs, and everyday bills with no steady income right now.

We’re hoping to raise funds to help cover a few months of rent while she recovers, medical and recovery-related expenses, and basic living costs so she can focus on healing. She would never ask for help like this, so I’m asking for her. If you’re able to donate or even just share this, it would mean more than you know. I just want her to be able to focus on healing without worrying about how she’s going to get through each month.
