Hi my name is Mikayla and I’m fundraising for my mom who has stage 4 terminal bowel cancer that has metastasized to her lungs and breasts. We were told here in St. John’s, NL that all they could offer was palliative chemotherapy with a one year survival rate. My mom is only 47 years old and self employed. She has been through so much in her life, but she’s the biggest fighter and she would do anything for anyone that needed help. Her cancer story started when she was 14 with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In 2022 she was then diagnosed with colorectal cancer and fought so hard with chemo, radiation, and multiple surgeries. We were finally looking up as of May of last year. Then her world turned upside down when I (her daughter) was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at 24. She stayed by my side for all of my chemo. During my chemo she had a scan and was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. Myself and my mom did chemo together for months, which is any family’s nightmare. She has been accepted into a clinic trial in Toronto. We have already done half of the surgery as her tumours grew too fast to complete it in one operation. She is currently on an aggressive chemo and we will be flying to Toronto in January to have the second and harder surgery. Unfortunately nothing is covered as it is a trial.
