Help My Mom Fight Stage 4 Glioblastoma Brain Cancer

Hi, my name is Brooklyn and I’m raising funds for my incredible mom, Teresa Lindsay, she is 60 years old and was recently diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma — an aggressive and life-altering brain cancer. Our family is heartbroken, but we’re standing together to fight for every moment we can with her and praying that with God’s will, she can still live a long beautiful life with us. My mom, herself is a miracle, so that is what we are all praying for and we know she is capable of it! The last thing I want my mom to do is stress about money when the only thing she should be putting energy into is her health

This all happened very quickly (all within the month of May) and it is very overwhelming in every aspect. At the beginning of May, she came to visit me in Midland, TX. I noticed something was off with her… speaking slower than normal and very tired. Not like her at all. I told her that I wanted her to get checked out to make sure everything was okay. Over the next couple weeks, more people started telling her this and then her lip started drooping and left leg started dragging and her balance was off. Then she got into a little fender bender. That really pushed her to get an MRI asap.

In the MRI they found a very large tumor near her frontal lobe on the right side. Surgery was immediately scheduled for the following Saturday, May 24th. Surgery was successful and they removed it. The pathology confirmed that it was Stage 4 Glioblastoma (a rare and aggressive brain cancer). Her recovery at the hospital was going well and she was discharged on Tuesday. That night, in the middle of the night at home, we had a scare with her where she had a seizure and couldn’t speak or communicate with us. We rushed her to the ER. She was discharged at 6 am. We made it until about 10:30 am at home and then she started having more seizures. I called 911 and they rushed her to the ER again. She had a total of 4 seizures within 15 min until the medication from the paramedics started working. She was readmitted to Utah Valley Hospital for a couple more days. They tripled her seizure medication and steroid to help manage them and she’s doing really well now back at home.

These are obviously just the spark notes. There have been many blessings and immediate help along the way. In about a week she will have her post op appointment and go over the detailed pathology with all of the genetic markers and go over treatment plans and clinical trials. Then In about 3 weeks she will start chemo / radiation. I cannot tell you how much research we have put into this as a family trying to do the best we absolutely can for her.

We’ve got a long road ahead of us and but we are feeling very hopeful despite the terrible news. My mom is the most positive and loving person. If you know her, you absolutely know this. She, herself, is a miracle and so that is what we are all praying for!

Glioblastoma is not only emotionally devastating but also financially overwhelming. The costs of surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, ongoing scans, medications, clinical trials, her lost income, and care are stacking up quickly.

If you know my mom, you know how deeply she cares for others — always the first to offer a helping hand and do whatever she has to with no hesitation. After my brother passed away in a car accident a few years ago, she started a little charity called Angels Among Us where she personally buys Minky Blankets and gives them to Orem City Police station and they give them to families who have lost loved ones in car accidents as well. She is such a selfless person and now she’s the one who needs help!

We’re asking for your support in any way you can offer:
• Donations to help cover medical bills and caregiving needs
• Shares of this campaign to help spread the word
• Prayers, good thoughts, and positive
messages to lift her spirits
• Research / success stories and helping her to have a success story as well.

Every dollar brings us one step closer to easing her burden and giving her the best quality of life possible during this incredibly hard time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, support, and generosity.

With love and gratitude,

Her daughter, Brooklyn
