Please help my mom crush cancer and fight to repair her home

Hey Everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read my mother’s story. My mom is 66 years old and lives alone in North Texas with her 14-year-old chihuahua, Zoro. This past year has been unimaginably hard for her. Earlier this year, while traveling to Florida to visit me, my wife, and her grandson, she fell down an escalator at the airport and broke her back. Just as she was trying to recover from that traumatic injury, she was diagnosed with both triple-positive and triple-negative breast cancer. The triple negative is currently the rarest form of breast cancer and less than 1% of all breast cancer patients have which makes the treatment even more difficult. She is currently on her 4th of 6 rounds of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and the effects have hit her incredibly hard. Once these treatments are completed, she will most likely need to undergo a significant surgery as part of the next phase of her fight.

On top of all of this, my mom has already endured heartbreaking loss. Just 2½ years ago, we lost my sister—her only daughter—during childbirth, and the baby was lost as well. That tragedy changed our family forever, and my mom has carried that pain with her every day while still trying to move forward the best she can.

She is also disabled and unable to work, leaving Social Security as her only source of income—which barely covers her basic needs, let alone the mounting bills she faces. Simple daily tasks—housework, getting to the store, picking up her medication—have become overwhelming. Even routine things, like keeping up with cleaning the house or tending to Zoro when he has accidents, have become challenging while she’s going through treatment.

Through all of this, she has tried to stay as strong and independent as she possibly can, but we have reached the redline and were maxed out. She didn’t want me to create this fundraiser or post anything on social media because she never wants to be seen as “just a patient.” She wants to be seen as a person—someone who still has dignity, strength, and a life beyond her illness. I see that strength in her every single day, even when the world around her makes things nearly impossible.

My brother has been doing everything he can to get her to her appointments, and I’m doing my best from Florida while serving in the military, but we simply cannot cover all the needs or be there as often as she truly needs.

On top of the medical battle, her home is literally falling apart around her. The foundation is cracking, the plumbing throughout the house needs to be replaced, and repairs can’t be postponed much longer. Medical bills from the cancer treatments, the back injury, and the physical therapy she will need in the future to rebuild her strength and get back to living her life are piling up, and her credit cards are stretched to their limit.

I want to make it clear that I’m not trying to oversell anything or make her life sound worse than it is. I’m simply sharing the truth of what she’s facing because she deserves support, compassion, and relief. My mom has always had so much love in her heart for everyone around her. I’m doing this because I want her to finally feel that love coming back to her—to know she’s not alone, and that the world still holds kindness for her, even in the darkest times.

We’re asking for help so my mom can focus on healing—without the constant fear of losing her home, falling further into debt, or struggling alone with the basics of day-to-day life. Donations will go directly toward medical bills, home repairs, physical therapy, mobility and daily-living support, and keeping her safe and stable during treatment and recovery to get her back to being the loving, caring, and PRESENT Mom and Grandma she desires to be.

Please try to keep this from being shared on Facebook. She checks it constantly, and she doesn’t have any other social media pages. I’m trying to do this as quietly as possible while still attempting to change her life for the better, without causing her stress or making her feel exposed. Sharing in direct messages, private messages, and text messages is perfectly fine.

Anything— Whether it’s $5, $25, or $5 donation, a prayer, or simply sharing this page in other ways—means more than you know. I will be taking in the money - which is why the location says Florida - and using 100% of it for her and her home. We are trusting God through every step of this journey, and we deeply appreciate your compassion, generosity, and support during the hardest time of her life. With faith, strength, and community behind her, we fully believe she will beat this disease.
