My Mom, My Hero: Help Her Fight Stage 3 Breast Cancer

Hi everyone,

My name is Alexis Perez, and I’m writing this for someone who means absolutely everything to me — my mom, Carmen Perez.

Back in March, our family’s world was turned upside down when my mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. We’re still trying to process everything, but one thing we know for sure is that we’re going to fight this together — just like she’s always fought for us.

My mom is the strongest woman I know. She spent over 30 years as a teacher, giving her heart to every student who walked through her classroom door. She was the kind of teacher kids never forgot — kind, silly, patient, full of life, and always finding the good in everything. She’s also the heart of our family: a loving wife to my dad, the most supportive mom to me and my brother, and a faithful believer who trusts God through it all.

Even now — in the middle of scary doctor appointments, chemotherapy, and all the uncertainty — she still cracks jokes, keeps our spirits up, and tells me everything’s going to be okay. That’s just who she is.

But the truth is, cancer is expensive. Even with insurance, the cost of treatment, medications, hospital visits, and everything else adds up so fast. My mom and dad have been doing everything they can to hold things together financially, but it’s been incredibly tough. That’s why I’m starting this GoFundMe — to help ease some of that burden, so my mom can focus on healing instead of worrying about bills.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward her medical care, transportation to and from treatments, and supporting her day-to-day needs during recovery.
