Three years ago, an 18-year-old drunk driver nearly took my mom's life.

My mom literally flatlined for several minutes.

She survived, but she didn't get her old life back.

The injuries from that accident left my mom permanently disabled. Before this happened, she worked TWO JOBS, provided for her children, and never asked anyone to take care of her. She worked hard for everything she had.

Now she can't work the way she used to.

Her disability income isn't enough to cover everything she needs, and she is now at risk of losing her home.

And after three years of dealing with the physical, emotional, and financial consequences, we were hoping that the restitution ordered in connection with the case would at least help hold the responsible party accountable for some of the losses my mom has suffered.

Instead, the restitution has now been denied/dismissed.

And honestly, we're devastated.

Because while the criminal case may be over for the system, it is NOT over for my mom.

She wakes up every day living with injuries she never asked for.

She can't simply go back to the way things were.

She can't just go back to working two jobs.

She can't undo what happened.

And now she's facing the possibility of losing the home she worked so hard to maintain.

That's why I'm asking for help.

We are urgently trying to find an attorney who can review my mom's case, the restitution issue, and the circumstances surrounding her injuries to determine what legal options may still be available to her.

Any money raised will help us with legal expenses, housing and essential living expenses, and the financial burden my mom has been carrying since the accident.

If you know my mom, you know she is not someone who likes asking for help.

She spent her life being the one who worked, provided, and took care of everybody else.

Now she needs us.
