Help My Best Friend Jody Fight Cancer

Hi, my name is Trip O’Connell, and I’m asking for your help to give my best friend, my six-year-old bull mastiff, Jody, more happy, tail-wagging years.

We just found out that Jody has a malignant adenocarcinoma tumor in his face. The truth is, it will take him from us one day, but not today SATAN! His doctor believes that with radiation treatment, Jody can live several more years of joyful, comfortable life.

That’s what we’re fighting for: more time filled with sloppy kisses, snoring naps, and fetch.

Jody’s Story —>

I met Jody right after one of the hardest chapters of my life.

In 2019, I came home from the Air Force to be with my dad, who passed away that October. A week later, I tagged along with my brother to a breeders’ convention, he was getting a golden doodle for my nephew.

I walked in late and saw this big, beautiful bull mastiff sitting alone in his crate, calm as can be. My mom looked at my brother and said, “I knew it. He’s not walking away from that dog.” She was right.

I didn’t have two cents to rub together, but I put it all on credit and brought Jody home. From that day forward, he’s been my dude and “100% Mr steal yo gurl” my quiet, drooling reminder of love and support.

He got me through losing my dad, helped me open five gyms, stuck by my side through COVID, countless road trips between Texas and DC and the loss of my wife’s father. Everywhere we go, he’s pure sunshine, a 150-pound bulldozer of joy who makes everyone smile.

Radiation is expensive! At around $10,000( all in) it’s not something most of us are prepared for. But Jody deserves the chance to keep living the life he loves, and I’ll do anything to make that happen.
