On February 22 around midnight I was walking Riley in her usual pee spot outside of my apartment complex. She got her leash caught under her legs and I went to untangle her when she went sprinting into traffic on Grand Ave. She cleared half the street and I wasn’t able to follow due to traffic and then she stopped in the middle in the lanes heading west. I kept calling at her in hopes that she would continue running and clear the entire street where I could get ahold of her on the other side when suddenly an ambulance came barreling down the street and hit her. I ran across and snatched her up off the ground, I didn’t know what to do. Her face was bloodied and her eyeball out of her head. I rushed her to the closest 24 hour animal hospital and they checked her in immediately where we are waiting to find out exactly what we will need to do to make sure she is okay again. She is conscious, and she’s being taken care of. The doctor says it doesn’t seem like there are any broken bones but due to the costs I wasn’t able to have them take X-rays of her right now to be sure. One of the doctors concerns was that she may become blind and will need her eye removed as well as a fractured jaw and teeth.

Anybody who knows me knows that my Riley (Smiles) is my WORLD.  I understand there is a point where maybe you need to let a pet go but the doctor seems to think she can be fully nursed back to health. 

The problem is vets are expensive and emergency vets are even more expensive. I would be so so thankful for any donation to help me cover the costs of her emergency visit and recovery.
