I am preparing to move from the US to Scotland to finally be with my wife and child, who are both UK citizens. While I am excited for this new chapter, I am facing a major challenge: bringing my three Siberian huskies—Lux, Apollo, and Shiloh—with me. These dogs have been with me since they were eight weeks old. Lux and Apollo are littermates, and Shiloh is a shelter rescue who has flourished with the love and support of the other two. They are deeply bonded, and I cannot imagine leaving any of them behind or separating them. For me, it’s non-negotiable—they are family, and we must stay together.
The UK has strict regulations for bringing dogs into the country. They must travel as declared cargo through a licensed pet transport company, which is a complex and expensive process. There are many steps involved, including airfare, health certificates and exams, vaccinations, microchipping, IATA-compliant travel arrangements, tapeworm treatment as required by the UK government, DEFRA/APHA clearance once in the UK, and arranging safe transport from Heathrow airport to Aberdeen, Scotland. Each step is necessary to ensure my dogs can travel safely and legally to join us in our new home.
I am doing everything I can to settle my affairs here and prepare for the move, but the costs of transporting three large, bonded dogs are overwhelming. My wife and child are waiting for us in Scotland, and my dogs love them dearly. We are not complete without Lux, Apollo, and Shiloh by our side. It would mean the world to me to have our family together, and any support to help us reunite would be deeply appreciated. Thank you for considering helping us on this journey.
