Our hope is that we can help Levi bring his Ulcerative Colitis into a complete remission by using a 2 week medically supervised FMT (Fecal Microbiota Transplant) program at an International clinic. This treatment would give Levi the freedom to support and provide for his family and increase his efforts to help the local community.
A little bit about Levi:
Levi Devin Hensley is 42 years old. He is a loving Husband of 15 years, and a caring & supportive Father of an amazing 5 ½ yr. Old Daughter named Ella. Levi is also a devoted son, a protective brother and a loyal friend. He is known by many as someone who loves to laugh, and who tries to make everyone feel welcome and at ease. For the last 4 years Levi has worked from home for a wonderful company Get Lean After 40 (Get Lean in 12, Inc.), helping hundreds of thousands of people around the world improve their lives through health and fitness. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Levi does his best to share the good news found in the Bible with his community.
Our Story:
This long, painful, emotionally draining fight with UC (Ulcerative Colitis) began just days after our wedding day. We went from the happy prospect of starting our new life together to the harsh reality of living with a very serious, potentially deadly chronic illness. For years Levi was too weak to work or even leave the house.
Within months Levi was experiencing extreme symptoms:
- Constant (15-20 times a day) and urgent trips (less than 15 seconds) to the bathroom
- Severe stomach cramps, intense abdominal pain, and bouts of internal bleeding
- Devastating effects of Anemia
- Crippling Anxiety
When he had to leave the house it meant starving himself until returning home. Every trip out would involve extreme mental anxiety knowing he might have only seconds to find a toilet before an embarrassing accident happened. Sadly, accidents often happened.
Levi has tried numerous UC treatments that include:
- Traditional Medications
- Bi-weekly self administered injections
- Steroids
- the Gerson Method
- Juicing
- Many diets (Keto, Paleo) and everything in between.
Some of the scariest times are when the UC overwhelms his system. He often ends up on the bathroom floor, his body uncontrollably shaking, burning up one second and freezing cold the next. The recovery process leaves him bedridden for days with head-splitting migraines and extreme body fatigue.
When I first met Levi he was very outgoing, active and loved to travel. Now 15 years later, he seems trapped at home most days. It's heartbreaking to feel so helpless, watching my Husband suffer so much.
In Levi's own words: “I just want to be able to care for my family and have more time to help others around me. It saddens me to think Ella has never experienced the joys of having a healthy father to spend time with and be there for her as she grows up. Something as simple as taking Ella to a park without the fear of running to the bathroom at a moments notice, would mean so much to me. After prayerfully considering all our options, we are happy to have found a treatment with a strong track record for dramatic results in treating UC symptoms."
