In early January, my husband suffered a severe injury—he tore his rotator cuff and biceps tendon in his right arm. Since then, he’s been unable to work, and I’ve been doing my best to keep our heads above water for our family of five. With three kids at home, every day has been a challenge, but we’ve been holding on to hope that things will get better.

Now, his surgery is scheduled for March 31st, but the hospital is asking for an out-of-pocket fee before they’ll perform the procedure. With my husband out of work, coming up with that amount on such short notice feels impossible. We’re already falling behind on bills, and I worry about how we’ll manage groceries and even pet food for our dog and cat during his recovery. The uncertainty is starting to weigh on us, and we’re just trying to make it through each day.
