Vidal Gonzalez, my grandfather, is 78 years old and is a very special person. He lives with my parents and family in San Antonio de los Altos, Venezuela.  On May 1st, he suffered a fall while playing with his grandkids and was not able to get up on his own. My family's fears were confirmed when an x-ray revealed a femur fracture in his right leg. He is currently unable to walk or put any weight on his leg. The doctors in Venezuela have recommended immediate prosthetic surgery to give him a fighting chance of being able to walk again in the future.

 My grandfather also suffers from Alheimer's disease and does not remember the accident, or why he is currently unable to walk. This is a very difficult time for my family as we do everything we can for our loved family member. It breaks our heart to see him in so much confusion and pain.
 
The doctors in Venezuela have provided an initial estimate for his treatment. The cost of the prosthetic implant, hospital expenses, operating doctor and other miscellaneous expenses are between $8,000 - $10,000 USD. Given the current economic situation in Venezuela, my family is unable to afford the cost of the operation. Any funds you are able to provide will be used to pay for his treatment and continual care after the operation is completed. With your help, my grandfather will have a chance to be able to walk again.
