My grandmother Anna woods has always been the heart of our family. She raised my brother and me, and her home has been a place of warmth and welcome for so many over the years. Recently, she faced an unexpected crisis that has turned her world upside down. It all started when she had a plumber come out to remove a stoppage in the washing machine drainage line. After the plumber supposedly unclogged it, a water damage company was called in. They ended up removing the floors in the formal dining room and the den, as well as the walls around the washing machine and in the den, because there was water in the walls and floor. They also took out her kitchen counters, cabinets, and sink, and moved all the furniture from the den into a storage unit.

Throughout this ordeal, my grandmother was told by her insurance agent that meals would be covered since her kitchen was unusable, and she was advised to keep all receipts for compensation. However, just a few days after an adjuster came to examine the home, she received an email stating that her insurance would not cover any of the damages—not the storage and removal, not the reconstruction, and not even the food expenses. Now, she is left with a huge repair bill and no support from her insurance company.

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward repairing the damages to her home, retrieving her furniture from storage, and paying for the removal of the walls and floors.
