Help my Grandma keep her son alive.

Hi everyone,
Let me give you a little insight into my Grandma’s difficult life. She and her husband had two children 10 years apart with Scott being the youngest. Scott’s dad was in a head on collision when Scott was fifteen months old, he was in a coma on life support for 9 days before being determined brain dead. My Grandma had to make the difficult decision to take him off life support, it hasn’t been easy for her raising two boys 10 years apart by herself. Scott never got to know his dad and now he is in a similar situation. He is a very severe asthmatic and got COVID-19 along with a devastating asthma attack a couple of weeks ago. He stopped breathing and was given compressions at the hospital just as he got to the hospital, so within minutes he was resuscitated. He remained in the ER in Ridgecrest, CA for several days in critical condition on life support before a bed was found for him in the ICU in Bakersfield, CA. He has been in the ICU in Bakersfield almost two weeks and once again my grandma had to make the impossible decision of whether to let him go or fight for him. After constant prayers by friends and families and herself, she found clarity and made the decision to keep him alive since he still has brain activity and has a pain response and is in fair condition physically. My Grandma was also in a coma and in life support a year and half ago during the start of COVID and was hospitalized for a month. No one thought she would make it either but she did. So, now it’s time to let Scott get that change. This is too much for one person to deal with in her 70 years on this earth. After deciding to titrate him off the ventilator to enable him to get a tracheotomy and a PEG for feeding, his team of doctors and social worker and case manager agreed to do this. After a few days of titrating him, he tolerated everything well and is breathing as well as expected on his own but still needs the tracheotomy. We’ve been waiting to hear from the surgeons as to when they could perform the tracheotomy and PEG and she received a call today from the attending physician that the surgeons refused to do the surgery saying they were not going to perform surgery on a “lost cause”. Scott is NOT a lost cause, he is doing as well as anyone has on a ventilator and it’s not their decision to make. My Grandma was devastated by this decision and Scotts team of doctors were shocked and totally didn’t expect the surgeons to do this. Scott is not brain dead he has plenty of brain function. Yes, he has a traumatic brain injury, However, no one knows NO ONE what the outcome will be. Certainly, not the surgeons. besides dealing with her own illness, her loss of her husband, and now Scott, she must fight the surgeons at this hospital as they have threatened to go to the ethics committee of the hospital if she dug her heels in on her decision and that’s they’re exact words. She will do whatever it takes to give her son another chance as everyone gave her another chance, saying she had no chance to survive her coma but she did. She had finally recipes clarity from God and made her decision and now this. He is far from brain dead and has a decent chance of recovery with an unknown outcome. I am asking someone to help her as she cannot afford an attorney to fight this forever. She’s a retired nurse and is on a fixed income. She should not have to sell her home to fight surgeons to keep her son alive when Scotts team of doctors believe this is her decision. Please help me help her so she does not have to lose her home to this ordeal. Thanks to all of those who care and God bless.

UPDATE:
First thank you for all your generosity and support. My Grandma Facetimed Scott last night and he opened his eyes for her, YAY. He is still in an unconscious state most of the time unaware of his surroundings. His vitals are good and he is trying to come back to us. I know some people think this is a scam and want CBS to investigate, to those people… I understand and invite you to investigate. There are a lot of scams out there so be careful. Love you to all Emily, My Grandma, and his girlfriend Jessica.
