My grandma was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer last year, and she has faced every challenge with incredible bravery and courage. Despite her strength, the cancer has now spread to her stomach, bones, and possibly her brain. The doctors are recommending urgent and expensive studies to understand the full extent of her illness.

She has public insurance in Mexico, but unfortunately, the public health system is slow and often unreliable. It takes far too long to even schedule an appointment, and my grandma simply doesn’t have that kind of time. She still has so much to live for—she hasn’t met my baby yet, and our family wants nothing more than to have her with us for as long as possible. That’s why we’ve been taking her to private hospitals and labs for MRIs and other studies, but the costs are overwhelming. Even with the money my sister and I send every time we can, it’s no longer enough to cover her medical needs.
