Hi everyone,
I never imagined I would be writing something like this!
My grandma was recently scammed out of $2,400. It all started with what looked like a legitimate email. The message felt urgent and convincing, and before she realized what was happening, the money was gone.
She is nearly 80 years old and still working. She lives on a very modest income and has always been independent and hardworking. $2,400 is not a small inconvenience for her. It is a significant loss.
What hurts the most is seeing how shaken she is. These scams are designed to create fear and pressure, especially for older adults who may not realize how sophisticated they’ve become. She is kind, trusting, and always believes the best in people. Someone took advantage of that.
I’m using my platform to try and help her recover what was taken. Our goal is to raise $2,400 to replace the funds she lost. Anything helps. If you’re not able to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
More than anything, I hope this encourages conversations with your parents and grandparents about email scams and online fraud. These situations can happen to anyone, especially those who didn’t grow up in a digital world.
Thank you for supporting her and for helping restore not just the money, but her sense of safety.
With so much gratitude,
Sarah
