My name is Marcelo Cedeno (the husband of Maya Normandi) and I am creating a GoFundMe to ask for financial support for my Godfather, Fabian Muzo, who is currently in treatment for a diabetes amputation in my home country of Ecuador. In early December my godfather went to the hospital for help with an unhealed infected cut on his toe. After doing tests they determined that he was suffering from Diabetes and needed to amputate his toe. Since then, the amputation wound has not healed and the infection threatens to spread while his circulation is not strong enough on its own. Currently Fabian needs vascular intervention and insulin management to support the healing process and avoid life-threatening complications in a medical clinic with a daily cost of $300, for 30 days (medication costs not included).

I first met my padrino (godfather) when I was 9 years old. His bakery was a block from my mom's restaurant, and one day he saw me staring at a wedding cake he was making and invited me to see the process. For the next 12 years I would work alongside him and my godmother in their bakery, until I turned 21. During this time Fabian became my boss, my godfather, and because my parents were divorced, he was an important father figure to me. I am asking for anyone who can donate money or help us share this cause to support my godfather to fight further infection and amputation.

My godfather is the sole earner of his family and cannot work in his condition. His family and friends are working to support him but the cost is too high. Taking into account the current situation of violence and economic & political instability in my home country Ecuador, it is increasingly hard to collect economic support.
