Help My Ginger Walk Again

Hi everyone. My dog Ginger is an adorable 10 year old Shih Tzu Poodle. She has been with my mom and I since 2013 and every year came back from her vet visits with a clean bill of health, except a sign of a luxating patella found in 2015, a common diagnosis for small breeds. Luxating Patella is when a dog’s knees pop out and won’t pop in by themselves.
In 2021 her Luxating Patella diagnosis had gone to a grade 4 (which is pretty bad). Keeping her comfortable meant carrying her up and down the stairs, no jumping on and off the couch and carpet… everywhere!
She was doing amazing until she started limping. At her vet checkup they did x-rays, bloodwork and urine testing to make sure she was okay and unfortunately a breast lump was found on her. The x-rays confirmed a severe bilateral luxating patella in her leg (bad) and a torn cruciate ligament (even worse) in her other leg. This basically means excruciating pain for her :(. As for the breast lump, it came back inconclusive with suspicion of malignancy (aka, cancerous). My mom and I are struggling financially and this came as a big shock to us.
We are going to do more x-rays and biopsy as we wait for a consultation with the surgeon for her double leg surgery, but we were told it would be upwards of $5000. We are asking for $10,000 to cover her existing vet bills and help with her surgery.
Ginger is an amazing girl who has a big personality. She loves to walk with her neighborhood friends and gives you puppy dog eyes when it’s time to go back inside. She will go up to any person or dog and give them a hello sniff, as she is a dog with manners. She gives side eye like no one’s business and she is the greatest companion to my mom and I. We would be heartbroken if she could no longer walk again and suffered from possible breast cancer just because we didn’t have the funds to help her.

Update: We just had a consultation at VEC and we were quoted $8000 a leg . We have changed the goal to $1600 as that is the new price! Thanks to everyone who donated and shared our story!
