Why I’m asking for help
Yesterday’s devastating earthquake in Colombia turned the lives of 64 of my friends in Manizales, Pereira, and Medellin upside down. I have worked closely with this group of amazing, wonderful people for several years, and I know them to be kind-hearted, hard-working, and joyful people. Now, so many of them are facing an unimaginable crisis. Some have lost their homes and personal belongings completely. Others cannot return to their buildings because the damage is too dangerous. Some are grieving the loss of loved ones and pets, while others are displaced and temporarily staying in the homes of other people with no clear idea of what comes next.
I am organizing this fundraiser so I can get support directly to them as they try to take the next steps forward. The funds will help them secure temporary housing and replace essential items like clothing, laptops, hygiene supplies, food, water, medications, and transportation. My hope is not only to meet urgent practical needs, but also to remind each of them that they are not alone in this tragedy. If you are able to give, please know that any amount, no matter how small, will be meaningful. Your support will help show these dear friends that people care and are willing to stand with them through this heartbreaking time.
