Our good friend Travis Elder had his life turned upside down this year. At 36 years old Travis found out that he has a vascular cancer called Angiosarcoma, which only shows
up in less than 1% of the population. This type of cancer is very aggressive and is incurable but hopefully with his next steps of treatment, they can get it under control and stop it from spreading any further. His first chemo appointment was scheduled for Friday April 5th and would continue every 3 weeks totaling 6 treatments over 18 weeks. March 28th Travis’s symptoms got worse and he was readmitted to Northumberland Hills Hospital because he lost feeling from the waist down. More testing found the cancer had spread and on the 29th he was transferred to Lakeridge Hospital to start more radiation. At Lakeridge, they did more tests and confirmed the cancer is spreading more rapidly, he has a small lesion that grew big enough to put pressure on his spine, causing him to lose his mobility. They are targeting the mass right now with 5 treatments of radiation in hopes to shrink it and release the pressure on his spine so he can regain his mobility and walk again and start chemo. Travis really needs our support and prayers. Travis lives alone and is going to need a lot of support. The mental tole this is taking on Travis and his family are enough to deal with, and the financial future cost haven’t even begun to fully affect him. Travis is a strong man and looks forward to better days and could use all the help he can get for now and what is in store for the future, between trips to specialists and other equipment and cost he will need to deal with. Your generosity will not only ease the financial burden but will also serve as a beacon of hope and support for Travis as he begins this courageous battle. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your compassion and generosity!
