Help My Friend Stuck in Nigeria Escape Transphobic Violence

Hi, I’m Nat Puff, you might also know me as Left at London. I’ve created this campaign to help a friend of mine who is a transgender woman (who wishes to remain anonymous) urgently escape a dangerous and life-threatening situation in Nigeria.

After flying to Nigeria to visit family on October 20th with the intention of a short two week visit, she has been faced with transphobic abuse that has caused her to have been stuck in the country against her will since. In the 2+ months she’s been there, she has faced severe transphobic violence, including:

-Brutal assault: She was physically attacked & targeted by a group of men who beat her & forcibly cut her hair off (& may have been hired by a family member to do so). Her eye was left infected & her eardrums torn.

-False imprisonment: She was unjustly kept in prison for several days, without ever being told the charges.

-Forced religious conversion therapy: She was subjected to harmful and abusive "deliverance sessions" aimed at suppressing her gender identity.

These experiences have left her deeply traumatized and fearing for her safety.

We are hoping to fund her safe return to the United States as quickly as possible once she gets her passport back. Funds raised will be used for:

-Emergency flight tickets: To secure a safe and immediate return to the United States.

-Living expenses after arrival: To cover essential costs such as rent in a new apartment, food, and basic necessities upon return. All she has to her name in terms of clothes & toiletries are what’s in her suitcase.

-Medical expenses: To access necessary healthcare after being forcibly detransitioned, including medications and mental health support.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in helping my friend escape this dangerous situation and rebuild her life. All of the money will be going directly to her sister per my friends request (hence why this campaigns listed location is Texas); she will be helping her get back to the US & giving her all of the rest of the money upon her safe arrival.
