Help my friend pay for her brain surgery

My name is Letícia and I'm setting up this fundraiser for my best friend Milena, who has epilepsy and urgently needs a brain surgery.

This year, she was diagnosed with focal epilepsy. This means that the potential cause of her epilepsy is a cavernoma (a group of abnormal blood vessels) inside her brain. Recently, they discovered her cavernoma is bleeding, which means she needs an urgent surgery to remove it. She has chosen to do that back home in Brazil with a trusted specialist. She needs a neuronavigation surgery, which the doctors said is the only safe option in her case - otherwise she would risk loosing part of her speech and movement. The surgery is costly, but it's the only one that doesn't present a large risk to her life.

The total cost of the surgery is estimated as CAD 24,000.

If you ever had a loved one face a life-threatening illness, you know you'd do anything to help them. I love Milena so much. She is such a kind, inspiring and talented person. She has been fighting epilepsy, with all the emotional and physical stress that comes with it, while getting her bachelor's degree and working full time - and somehow she still always finds time to help others. She deserves the brightest future and many years of happiness. We are going to fight for her future and we are asking for your help!
