Help my Friend Krys Escape an Abusive Home

IMPORTANT NOTE: My friend has requested that this gofundme NOT be circulated via facebook, for fear that it may make its way around to one of their family members and cause extra chaos, so if you'd like to share, please take that into consideration.

Hi everyone! My name is Silver, and I'm making this gofundme to help my friend move out of their incredibly controlling and mentally/emotionally abusive home and moved in with me.

 

My friend's name is Krystal (Krys). They are a trans person, 29 years old, and their parents have blocked every attempt made by both Krys and myself to help them earn some independence and eventually move out. I believe their parents are keeping them from moving in an attempt to make use of their SSI/SSDI money, so they're doing everything they can to manipulate and try to scare Krys into staying. Krys has finally put their foot down however, and I have a room to offer them a few hours away in a neighboring state.

 

We have transportation lined up for the move with help from another one of Krys's friends, however it does not involve a Uhaul, so Krys will be leaving all of their furniture behind. I wanted to make this gofundme as a means to try and crowdfund for some basic furniture and possible other necessities for Krys, things like a bed and frame, a desk and chair for their computer, and some other potential necessities to accomodate their needs for a smoother transition. I'm going to contribute and save as much as I can to help as well, but am not financially in a place to provide as much help as I wish I could.

 

All donations here will be going to helping Krys replace necessities they had to leave behind, as well as purchasing accommodations. I'm hoping we can hit at least $500 by the end of May so that I can ensure Krys has a bed and frame to sleep on when they arrive, but every little bit helps.
