Help my friend Kristen get on her feet

It seems like lately the abusers are winning.

My friend Kristen has been living with her verbally and physically abusive mother for the last several years in order for her daughter to live in a safe area. Her mother never laid a finger on her grandchild, but that woman did her best to turn Kristen’s daughter against Kristen. I have personally seen her verbally abuse Kristen on more than one occasion for hours on end in front of dozens of people, and this was when she was on “good” behavior. I’ve also seen marks on Kristen from the times she was attacked.

Kristen dealt with it all, though, for her daughter to live in a safe neighborhood, have clothes, and food on the table. She’s a single mom with an ex who did his best to never give her financial support. And thanks to the years of abuse, Kristen suffers from anxiety, depression, and severe PTSD. Because of this, the complete lack of support from her mother and her ex, and the barrage of verbal abuse from her mother telling her she would never be able to get a job let alone keep one, Kristen has no current source of income.

Now Kristen’s daughter is 18 and they both have been kicked out. Her daughter has a place she can move into, but Kristen does not. And now to add insult to injury, her mother not only kicked her out so that she no longer can live there as of Friday, her mother is trying to press charges against Kristen for elder abuse. Kristen’s daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend were there and can attest that anything Kristen did was out of self-defense, but it’s still one more struggle. She has to be in court to defend herself now, too.

This is a picture of her not looking her best. She’s had about 4 hours of sleep total in the last 5 days. With all of what’s happening, she is actually hopeful because it’s STILL better than the daily abuse she received. I am asking for enough money for her to get a used car so she can look for a job, and worst case scenario she could live in it until a more permanent situation can be found. Please, please, please don’t let another abuser win. If you can donate anything, it would so be appreciated.
