Hello! I am helping my friend escape an abusive living situation, and we are reaching out for help if you are at all able and willing!
It’s been a few years of careful planning, and now that my friend is finishing school she’s finally in a position to move without jeopardizing her financial aid and degree. After a period of housing insecurity in 2023, my friend had no choice but to return to her abusive childhood home in the south in order to find work and strategize how to move back to the northeast, where her entire support system is. Since being back she has endured consistent emotional, verbal, and financial abuse, and has become increasingly worried for her physical safety over the past year.
My friend was able to secure temporary housing, and so we are asking for help with moving costs, gas money, and food/living expenses while she gets on her feet.
We’ll be making the move to NYC by car at the end of April. While I will be making the trip with her, I can’t drive so we will need to spend a night or two in a motel so she can rest before we get back on the road.
Full breakdown of what your donation will go towards:
- Gas for the roadtrip
- 1-2 nights in a motel while we're on the road
- Food and train fare once in NYC
- Security deposit for apartment
- 1st months rent
Unfortunately this GoFundMe has to stay anonymous as her abuser closely monitors her, and he may get aggressive and create an unsafe situation as she tries to leave.
