HELP MY FRIEND ELIJAH FIGHT CANCER
This is one of my best friends Elijah. He is 5 years old. He loves to play Paw Patrol and exploring the outdoors with me . He is a vibrant and people loving soul. He is a really smart boy and can tell you something about pretty much anything and everything. He just started going to school. I think of him as my big brother. But now he is very sick and stuck in the hospital.
About 1 months ago, Elijah suffered from an upper respiratory infection and spiked a high fever that just did not seem to come down for several weeks. So, his parents asked for medical expertise in solving the mystery. After multiple doctor visits and lab visits Elijah was finally diagnosed. His parents and him had to face a diagnosis they never thought of in their dreams. The shocking news were that Elijah was suffering from Cancer, specifically Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes too many immature lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell). Leukemia may affect red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Hence, he pretty much does not have an immune system and cannot get enough oxygen to his organs and tissues. My mom basically tells me that all the little ninjas in his body are gone and cannot fight the bacteria. If my friend Elijah does not get the care he needs, he could suffer from severe infections as well as organ shutdown.

My friend Elijah is the bravest friend I have. He has already gone through 2 transfusions, IV insertion for medication administration, bone marrow aspiration and surgery in 3 days. He was started on Chemotherapy yesterday. This is just the beginning of his journey. He will have to face multiple painful hurdles in the future as well as follow up care for many years. This comes with a heavy price as his total treatment cost is estimated to be anywhere from 130,000 to 800,000 USD depending on his response to chemo and radiation therapy. His parents are beyond shocked and are in extreme pain watching their beautiful little boy suffer like this. They feel helpless and try to be there for him as much as they can while also taking care of his 3 year-old-sister Zoe. Even though being there for their son is their main priority right now and they would never ask for help, the financial burden will be another hardship they will have to face in the near future.
In order to ease their pain a little bit, I am asking each and every one of you to find it in your heart to take off some of their financial burden by making a donation and sending some prayers their way. No donation is too small and every penny out of your piggy bank counts!
I wish I could be by my friend's side and tell him that everything is going to be okay and that he needs to fight. I wish I could bring my paw patrol truck to him and put a smile on his face. But unfortunately, no other children are allowed. I am praying for him often and hard. Please help my friend get better so I can hug him again and tell him that I love him.

Many Thanks,
Atishay
